Smoked Mini Cheddar Meatloaves on the Big Green Egg is a deliciously easy cook to make. It has been a family favorite around my house for many years. It’s an excellent re-invented meatloaf that you must put on your list of things to try.
One item that I highly recommend picking up as a Big Green Egg accessory, if you don’t already have one, is a cast iron skillet. It does an excellent job evenly cooking anything you throw in it and it is very versatile.

Smoked Mini Cheddar Meatloaves Ingredients
- 1 Egg
- 3/4 Cup – Milk
- 1 Cup – Shredded Cheddar Cheese
- 1/2 Cup – Quick Cooking Oats
- 1/2 Cup – Chopped Onion
- 1 Tablespoon – Cow Lick Seasoning from Dizzy Pig
- 1 Pound – Ground Beef
- 2/3 Cup – Ketchup
- 1/2 Cup – Packed Light Brown Sugar
- 1 1/2 Teaspoon – Mustard
- Cast Iron Skillet
How to Make the Smoked Mini Cheddar Meatloaves?
In a large bowl add egg and milk.
Beat the egg and milk like you were going to make a scrambled egg.
Add cheese and stir into the beaten milk and egg.
Add oats and stir into mixture.
Add and stir in onion.
Add and mix in Cow Lick seasoning from Dizzy Pig.
Add beef and mix well.
Make about 8 equal balls forming the mini cheddar meatloaves.
Smoked Mini Cheddar Meatloaves Glaze
In a smaller bowl add the brown sugar, mustard and ketchup.
Mix throughout until it has an even consistency.
Equally spoon over the Mini Cheddar Meatloaves in preparation for smoking on the Big Green Egg.
How to Smoke the Mini Cheddar Meatloaves on the Big Green Egg?
Once the Big Green Egg is fired up to 350 degrees it is ready to start smoking the Mini Cheddar Meatloaves. This is an indirect cook with the plate setter / conv”egg”tor.
Simply place the cast iron skillet on the Big Green Egg and throw a couple probes in to monitor the temperature. This cook should take roughly 45 minutes, uncovered.
Once complete. Pull, plate and enjoy these delicious Smoked Mini Cheddar Meatloaves from the Big Green Egg!

- 1 Tablespoon - Cow Lick Seasoning from Dizzy Pig (optional)
- 1 Pound - Ground Beef
- 2/3 Cup - Ketchup
- 1/2 Cup - Packed Light Brown Sugar
- 1 1/2 Teaspoon - Mustard
- Cast Iron Skillet
Instructions
- In a large bowl add egg and milk then whisk/beat.
- Add cheese and stir into the beaten milk and egg.
- Add the oats and stir into the mixture.
- Add in Cow Lick Seasoning (optional).
- Add beef and mix well.
- Make about 8 equal balls per pound and place in cast iron skillet.
- In a smaller mix the ketchup, mustard and brown sugar together creating the perfect topping and distribute over the top of the mini meatloaves evenly.
- With the BGE dialed into 350 for an indirect cook place the cast iron skillet in the BGE.
- Cook for about 45 minutes, confirm the minimum temp is up to USDA standards for beef and enjoy!
Notes
Cow Lick by Dizzy Pig is optional but gives the Mini Cheddar Meatloaves a little extra flavor.
