The patio can be designed in a variety of different ways and it plays a very important role in determining the overall curb appeal of your house.

If your patio is not well designed, it’s really going to affect the aesthetic appeal of the property, especially when someone walks by. Most people turn their patio into spacious dining areas and many just prefer putting chairs outside where they can sit and relax.

While decorating the patio is a lot of fun and allows you to express your creative side, the real difficulty lies in maintaining the patio properly. It’s much easier said than done.

Keep in mind that your patio is going to be exposed to environmental elements around the clock so it’s going to require a considerable amount of care.

During the fall season, your patio is going to be covered in leaves. Even throughout the year, you can expect leaves to blow on the tables, the furniture, and other parts of the patio.

It’s certainly not easy to get rid of all the leaves and the dust and debris that accumulates on the patio over time.

Keeping the leaves off the patio is going to be much more difficult than you might think. There are a number of different things that you need to do to keep your patio neat and clean.

Here is a brief guide to help you out, though it’s important to note that some of these steps might require you to add some extra elements to your patio.

1 – Add a Wire Mesh Fence

One of the best things that you can do is to add a wire mesh fence around your patio as it’s often regarded as the best way to keep the leaves out. However, you should know that wire mesh is going to obstruct your view and some people might even feel as if they are inside a cage.

In most cases, adding wire mesh isn’t preferred but if you are looking to completely eliminate the presence of leaves in your patio, this is the best choice.

You can call a local company that offers fencing and wire mesh installation and have them visit your place. They will take the measurements for the wire mesh installation and will give you a quote.

You can choose the kind of wire mesh that you want around your place because there are several variants available in the market. You can decide how fine of a wire mesh you need for your place and then negotiate the price for the installation.

A wire mesh installation doesn’t really cost much and it’s generally a preferred choice for people who really want to keep the leaves away from their houses.

2 – Get a Good Rake

If you want to keep leaves off the patio but don’t want to take the extreme measure of installing a wire mesh all around the space, you should consider buying a good rake. This is arguably the cheapest way of keeping leaves off the patio.

A rake allows you to quickly move aside all of the leaves that are strewn over the patio. Not only that, but a big rake makes it incredibly easy and efficient for you to clean the patio floor within a matter of minutes.

There are several “no clog” rakes available in the market so you can choose one of those if you get a lot of leaves all over your yard.

3 – Get a Leaf Blower

If you are thinking of making life easy for yourself and don’t want something that requires a considerable amount of physical effort, you should consider getting a leaf blower. A leaf blower is an incredibly powerful device that you can use in order to blow out all of the leaves from your patio.

Just know that if you have any delicate, decorative ornaments on your patio, it might topple them over too.

A portable leaf blower is a fantastic choice for moving all of the leaves to one side. It has a powerful motor built inside that blows air in one direction, allowing you to get rid of all the leaves that are strewn on the floor. Within a few minutes, your patio will be as clean as ever.

The force of the air that blows through the motor is so high that it will also help you clean all of the debris and the dust from your patio very easily.

4 – Put up a Tarp

When the patio is not in use, you should consider placing a tarp over the whole thing. If you have a small patio, you can just cover everything up with a tarp.

It’s a pretty easy way of keeping leaves off of the patio without much of an effort as well. All you need to do is place the tarp over the patio when you are done and just take it off when you go to sit in the patio again.

Tarps defeat leaves all the time as you can just drag it around to the edge of the yard and then get rid of all the debris and leaves on the patio. You can then just place it back again on the furniture.

5 – Use a Yard Vacuum

Did you know that you can also invest in a yard vacuum in order to clean the patio? Yard vacuums have a larger opening that allow you to quickly get rid of all the leaves from around the shrubs and other parts of the patio.

If you have a flower bed on your patio, you can use a yard vacuum to get rid of all the leaves that are strewn about. However, fallen leaves often turn into mulch so they can actually benefit your plants in the long run.

These are just a few things that you should know about keeping leaves off of your patio. It doesn’t require much of an effort if you are consistent in your cleaning!
