How to Make Spaghetti Pie on the Big Green Egg
How to Make the Spaghetti Pie Sauce
Start with the spaghetti pie sauce. Dice the yellow onion. Add the ground beef and yellow onion to a pan and brown the beef.
Drain the ground beef. Add your favorite spaghetti sauce and cook until it is simmering. Remove from heat and set aside for later.
In a pot, boil some water. Once the water is boiled add the spaghetti noodles and cook until done (roughly 7 minutes). Drain and move on to the next step.
How to Make the Spaghetti Pie Crust
In a bowl mix the egg and the yolk together well. Add the Parmesan cheese and mix in well.
In a decent size bowl add the spaghetti noodles. Mix in the butter and Parmesan cheese mixture. Add the Parmesan noodle mixture to a 10″ pie pan. Push the noodles down and up the sides of the pan forming a crust.
Once the crust is to shape, throw it in the microwave for 2 minutes on high. This will keep your pie crust in shape.
How to Prepare the Spaghetti Pie
Now that the spaghetti pie crust and sauce is ready to go it is time to actually complete the pie. On top of the noodles spread the cottage cheese into an even layer.
On top of the cottage cheese, add the spaghetti sauce to complete the spaghetti pie.
How to Cook the Spaghetti Pie
At this point the BGE should be up to temp and holding right around 350 degrees with indirect heat. Place the spaghetti pie on the Big Green Egg and let it cook for 30 minutes.
Once complete, add the mozzarella cheese for an additional 3-5 minutes until the cheese is melted on top. Remove, serve and enjoy!
