I pride myself in keeping my grilling space fairly organized, but there are times where I’d misplace my spatula and spend a good amount of time searching when it’s time to flip those burgers.
If you’re the same, this article is here to help you streamline your grilling setup with practical and creative storage solutions. Some are as simple as buying a dedicated grilling apron, while others are more involved like investing in a custom-built grill cabinet.
1 – Grill Cart
A grill cart is an excellent solution for BBQ enthusiasts who tend to move their Blackstone grill around.
Unlike traditional carts, a grill cart features a built-in prep table. You can use this prep table to chop vegetables, assemble burgers, marinate meats, and do other grill-related tasks to keep your grilling area organized.
The cart comes with several tiers or drawers to store Blackstone accessories like brushes, tongs, spices, and the like.
You can even tuck a bag of charcoal onto the bottom shelf, saving you the hassle of dragging a 10+ pound bag across your yard every time you want to grill.
If possible, search for a cart with drawers or enclosed compartments for weather protection. This ensures your tools and supplies are kept dry, clean, and ready to use even when the weather takes a turn.
2 – Storage Bucket
A tall bucket makes for a simple and cost-effective storage solution for your Blackstone accessories. Simply reach in and grab the tools you need. It may not be the most professional storage option, but it certainly gets the job done.
Any bucket with a durable grip handle will do. You can use this handle to easily transport your Blackstone accessories from your garage/storage area to your outdoor grilling station.
For added convenience, consider labeling different buckets for specific items. One for utensils, another for cleaning tools, a third for charcoal or wood chips, a fourth for marinades and sauces, and so on.
If you’re not into the look of traditional buckets, you can also use plastic storage baskets or bins with handles.
I recommend transparent ones so you can easily see what’s inside without rummaging through multiple containers.
Just make sure the containers are large enough to fit tongs, grill brushes, and other long items.
3 – Grill Cabinet
For the most professional-looking set-up, invest in a custom-built grill cabinet configured around your Blackstone grill.
You can install adjustable shelves, pull-out drawers, and hooks on the cabinet. You can even integrate a cutting board surface so you can prep food right next to your grill.
The problem with a built-in grill cabinet is that it’s, well, built-in. It can’t be moved or adjusted once installed. So if you decide to rearrange your outdoor space or upgrade your grill, a built-in cabinet can be a bit of a hindrance.
That aside, it’s one of the best and most effective ways of storing grilling accessories. The upfront cost can be a bit expensive, but it’s often worth the investment because of the added functionality and aesthetic it brings to your outdoor cooking space.
When building a grill cabinet, choose materials that can withstand the rigors of outdoor conditioners—rain, humidity, temperature fluctuations, etc. Some of the best materials are stainless steel, treated wood, or stone.
4 – Wall Hooks
Wall hooks are another smart storage solution for Blackstone grill accessories.
Nail the hooks to a wall panel or pegboard near your grilling station. Add as many hooks as you see fit.
Choose hooks of different sizes and shapes to fit the specific tool you’re hanging. Spatulas, tongs, and brushes can be hung on standard S-shaped hooks, while heavier items like the griddle press benefit from heavy-duty hooks.
One of my close BBQ buddies repurposed an old, unused rake by removing the handle and mounting it to the wall with the tines facing outward. Each of the tines holds a different grilling tool. It’s a neat idea that adds a vintage look to their BBQ setup!
5 – Grilling Apron
Simple yet functional, a grilling apron should belong in every grill master’s arsenal!
It’s not your regular kitchen apron; it comes equipped with multiple pockets to store your BBQ accessories.
These pockets can hold your tongs, spatula, thermometer, and other BBQ essentials so you don’t have to constantly run back and forth to grab them.
Final Thoughts
There are dozens of ways to store your Blackstone accessories. The five tips above are some of the ones I personally tried.
Don’t be afraid to experiment with different storage solutions to find what works for your grilling setup and preferences.
