BGE – Roasted Smoked Sausage, Potatoes & Veggies Ingredients
- 14 Oz – Package of smoked sausage from Eckrich (skinless)
- 1 – Green Pepper
- 1 – Yellow Onion
- 1/4 bag – Red Skin Potatoes
- 1/2 Teaspoon – Bayou-ish by Dizzy Pig (Blackening Seasoning)
- 1/2 Teaspoon – IPA by Dizzy Pig (Hop-infused seasoning blend)
- 1 Tablespoon – Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Set up the BGE
BGE Roasted Smoked Sausage, Potatoes & Veggies should be cooked with indirect heat. For this cook I also recommend cooking indirect with the feet of the conv”egg”tor facing upward.
You’ll want the bottom vent bout 1/2 way open with the top vent open to achieve a good 400 degree cook (tweak vents as needed). Once setup move along to prepping the food.
BGE – Roasted Smoked Sausage, Potatoes & Veggies Preparation
Start out by simply mixing all ingredients and spices into a large bowl or freezer back. The smoked sausage should be cut about a 1/4 inch thick.
The potatoes should also be cut about a 1/4 inch thick and add to the bowl or freezer bag. Try to keep the potatoes about the same size as the smoked sausage otherwise you may end up with cooked meat and raw potatoes.
Slice the onion in half, make thin slices and slice in half again and add them to the bowl or freezer bag.
My green pepper was larger than needed so I just used about half of it and added it to the bowl or freezer bag.
Take one tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil and pour it over the top of everything. Take 1/2 teaspoon of the IPA and sprinkle it over the top. Take another 1/2 teaspoon of Bayou-ish and sprinkle it over the top.
Either get a large spoon or get your hands in it to get it all mixed up.
Add it to a pizza pan (I use my pizza pan for a drip tray on a lot of cooks as well so I try to always cover it with foil).
The main goal here is to disperse the ingredients evenly and make it a single layer.
Confirm the temperature is holding steady right around 400 degrees.
Add the Roasted Smoked Sausage, Potatoes & Veggies to the pan and let it cook for 10 minutes.
After 10 minutes stir everything up and continue to cook for another 30 mins repeating the stirring process every 10 minutes.
The Roasted Smoked Sausage, Potatoes & Veggies cooked for about 40 minutes and they were ready. This time frame will vary on the size of your potatoes.
If they are smaller the time will take a little less and if they are larger it will take a little longer.
Once you get the potatoes to the readiness you are looking for, plate it and enjoy!
